Keeping your Mommy and Daddy Safe

Hey all you cats and kittens, this is Pearl with the Pearl Report.  Today's topic is keeping Mommy and Daddy Safe.

We love our families and we want them to be healthy and happy so they can keep playing with us.  You will need to make rules for not just your Mommy or Daddy but for yourself as well. 

Since I am in charge, I keep a close eye on what Mommy is doing at all times.  I inspect her food and drink to make sure it is okay for her to have.  If I don't think it is good for her, I will push it off the table.  So far, I have not had to take such drastic measures, although sometimes Mommy drinks and eats some strange things.  None of her food or drink has seemed to make her sick.

I also have rules about who is invited into our home.  Recently, Aunt and Uncle came to visit.  They brought the dog that lives with them.  I have posted a picture of Aunt's dog.  The other picture is me, Pearl, getting my fierce face. 

I met this dog before, but I was little and hadn't been old enough to put my protective protocols in place yet.  I have decided not to let visitors get too close to my Mommy.  I had to get my fierce face to make them understand.  I hissed and growled just to make sure the point got across.  Aunt was quick to learn, but the dog needed many reminders.  However, once she (the dog) got the message, it was FUN.  I worked very hard to teach Aunt's dog to play.  She doesn't seem capable of playing stalk and pounce, but we were able to play a fun game of chase.  I think she was getting the hang of hide and surprise, but she wasn't really very good at it.  Uncle is very fun to play with!

Sometimes, Mommies or Daddies get sick.  Usually they wear their pajamas all day and sleep a lot when they're sick.  My Mommy got sick but not very seriously.  I took very good care of her.  That is why she got better so fast.  When your human is sick, you will have to watch them carefully.  Walk on them and pinch them to show how much you care.  You should check their faces by headbutting them and tickling their noses with your whiskers.  It is very important that sick humans stay clean.  Mommy is usually clean enough, except sometimes her toes are dirty.  Then I have to wash them.  I think that clean toes are very important for human health.  Just FYI, Mommy has very tasty toes.  Sometimes, I bite them.

There are many other things to do to keep your human safe.  You will need to make your own rules to fit your family.
