Halloween

Hey all you cats and kittens!  This is Pearl with the Pearl Report.  Today's topic is Halloween!

Halloween is tomorrow and I'm very excited!  It will be my first one.  I didn't know what Halloween was, so I had to do research.  It turns out that Halloween is the holiday humans scare themselves for fun.  I was first alerted to this exciting celebration when I witnessed the neighbors putting graves in their front yard. They put the bones of dead humans climbing out of the graves.  Of course I ran and told Mommy, but she seemed to find this odd behavior amusing.   I found her behavior intriguing.  I watched out the window as often as I could and researched what was going on.

My research indicated that big humans and little humans celebrate in different ways.  The little humans disguise themselves and run around knocking on doors and getting treats.  Mommy bought a big bag of treats for the little humans.  I wondered if the treats were as delicious as the kitty treats she buys for me.  So, when she took a shower, I investigated.  I had to rip the bag open to see the treats.  Each treat had paper around it, so I had to shred that to see the treat.  I tasted one and it was not delicious.  I don't understand why little humans would want them even though they didn't seem likely to hurt the little humans.  The little round ones were fun to play with though.  When Mommy was done with her shower, I proudly showed her that I had inspected the treats.  She said, "Oh Pearl!"  That meant that she was grateful I checked out the treats for the little humans.

Big humans disguise themselves too, but they go to parties.  I would like to go to a party, just to see what they do.  Mommy tried to dress me up in a costume, but I made it clear that felines do not care to disguise themselves.  I would like to go around the neighborhood and get delicious kitty treats though.  I think Mommy knew I was feeling left out, because she bought me a pumpkin.  At first I was like "What!"  Then I kind of liked it.  Humans scratch faces on their pumpkins.  I scratched my pumpkin, but it didn't make a face.  I have posted pictures of me and the pumpkin.

I can't wait for the little humans to come get their treats.  I'm going to help Mommy pass them out.  I just wish they were better treats.

Enjoy your Halloween fellow felines!  Keep scratching until next time.
