Hey all you cats and kittens! This is Pearl with the Pearl Report. This week's topic is giving and receiving.
Christmas is the time for giving and receiving. I give Mommy love and affection, as well as structure. Mommy gives me all kinds of things, love, food, a home, etc. At this special time of year, I get more. I've already gotten one present. It actually came at Thanksgiving, which brings up receiving. When you receive a gift, you should be thankful, grateful, etc. Also, you should be thankful everyday for all the gifts you receive in that day. You should! I've had a little difficulty with this gift.
When it came, it was just annoying! It bothered me, it didn't know the rules, it didn't realize I was in charge. I was annoyed with Mommy for bringing it into the house. For heavens sake, what was she thinking. And then, a few weeks passed. I got used to my present, and I realized that it had potential. I began working to show it the rules and teach it how to behave. It is a work in progress, but I have come to love my present. All you felines have probably figured out what the present is, but for you humans who still haven't tumbled to it; my present is a puppy! I have posted her picture so you can all see how cute she is!
I also learned a valuable lesson in all of this. Christmas is time for giving, but how you receive a present is just as important. The present may be wonderful, but it is more wonderful because someone loved you enough to think of you. The present connects you to that person and reminds you of their love. It doesn't matter what the present is, even a gift card. Because, while you are spending your gift card you are thinking of that person. You will treasure the thing you spent your gift card on more because it will remind you of the person. Maybe, the gift was not your favorite thing! That's okay, it still connects you. If you let it, it might grow on you and you might come to love it, just like I did.
So, Merry Christmas all you felines. Enjoy yourselves and receive those presents with joy. Give all your love and kindness to your human family and each other. If you don't have a family, give your time and effort to someone in need. They will love you for it. Here is a picture of my old dog wishing everyone Happy Holidays. Mommy tried to take a picture of me, but I'm never going to wear that silly hat.
Keep scratching! Until next time,
Pearl
