Hey all you cats and kittens! This is Pearl with the Pearl Report. Today's topic is Easter. Easter is a religious holiday that is also a Spring holiday. I don't know much about the religious part except to say white lilies are involved. I know because one of Mommy's friends gave her an Easter lily. She immediately put it on the back porch where I would not be tempted to nibble on it. Mommy knows that lilies are poisonous to cats. I don't think I would have tried it, but I'm mentioning it today because some young felines and inexperienced Mommy's and Daddy's may not know. So all you Mommy's and Daddy's out there, if you have Easter lilies around for the holiday, make sure your precious felines can't reach them. I have posted a picture of the poisonous lily.
Easter is also about the Easter Bunny. This is not my first Easter of course. I remember the stories I heard about the Easter Bunny when I was little. However, now that I'm an adult, I have questions. I know the Easter Bunny comes to yards where there are children and hides eggs. Then the children will take their Easter baskets and find the Easter eggs. There are other treats too. I don't know where the Bunny gets the eggs. One thing is for sure, he or she didn't lay them. At first, I suspected that the Bunny stole the eggs from some poor defenseless chickens. Sort of a backwards Robin Hood thing. (I know all about Robin Hood, I watched the movie.) That didn't seem fair. I was going to watch for the Easter Bunny, catch it, and make it return the stolen eggs. Then Mommy explained that the Easter Bunny buys the eggs, so that is okay. Also, the Bunny spends a lot of time decorating the eggs and making them special. I have more respect for the Bunny after hearing that.
I do feel that other species besides children should be visited by the Bunny. Felines deserve to find treats too. If the Bunny wants to leave me some kitty treats, I would be so happy. It would be nice if the Bunny would leave something for my old dog and my puppy, too. I have posted some pictures of my old dog and my puppy in their Easter costumes. It took Mommy a long time to get their pictures because my puppy didn't want to hold still and my old dog couldn't get his costume on straight. In the end, I helped.
Have a wonderful Easter and may the Easter Bunny bring you lots of treats!
Keep Scratching! Until next time,
Pearl
