Hey all you cats and kittens! This is Pearl with the Pearl Report. Today's topic is Halloween! Yay, Halloween is one of my favorite holidays. Tomorrow I will watch the little humans through the window and help Mom hand out candy. I love to see them in their costumes. Mom got a costume for me, but I refused to wear it. My puppy followed my lead and won't wear hers either so there are no pictures of that. However, like last year, Mom bought me a pumpkin so I have posted a picture of that.
There are some wonderful decorations in the neighbor's yards. Sometimes, I wish I was an outdoor kitty so I could go and shred the witch across the street, but I'm much safer as an indoor kitty. Which brings me to some more serious aspects of today's topic.
While I love and enjoy Halloween, not all felines do. Moms and Dads should have a quiet place for their felines to stay if they are disturbed by all the fun. Indoor kitties should be watched carefully when opening doors as they may become frightened or excited and rush out without thinking. Moms and Dads should also make sure felines are unable to get into candy or serve only candy that is nontoxic to felines. Some candy can cause serious health issues for felines.
Of course, there are always rumors that cats, especially black ones, are preyed on by disreputable humans on Halloween. Happily, this is simply an old wives tale and is not true. Cats are in no more danger on Halloween than on any other day. But there are all the usual dangers, and with all the excitement, it is easy for a precious feline to get into trouble.
So enjoy Halloween and have fun, but listen to your Mom and Dad. Here I am ready to do my part in a fun Halloween.
Until next time, keep scratching!
