Hey all you cats and kittens! This is Pearl with the Pearl Report. Today's topic is Schedules.
It is so important to get your Mommy or Daddy on a schedule. They may resist at first, but they will soon learn to love it. Here is an example of the schedule I have my Mommy on.
Wake up around 5:00 A.M. If I am in the room with Mommy, I walk up and down her and tickle her with my whiskers until she sits up. If I am not in the room, I yowl until she gets up. Both ways are very effective.
1st Feeding Time As soon as Mommy is awake she gets my food. This is important, because felines must start their day with a healthy breakfast.
Play Time When I'm done with breakfast, it is playtime. I play with all my toys and engage my Mommy with them. She needs this stimulation because she sits and drinks TEA or COFFEE. I have tried to sample them but Mommy always moves the cup away.
Nap Time After play time is my nap time. Mommy is free to do what she likes at that time, because I have given clear instructions as to what is acceptable. If you have not taught your Mommy and Daddy the rules, you will not be able to nap comfortably.
Chore Time After my nap it is time to watch Mommy do her chores and make sure she is doing them correctly. What we do varies from day to day, but I help fold clothes and inspect dishes. I help Mommy sweep by chasing the broom around, and I help declutter by pushing things off the shelf.
Affection Time Affection time can really happen throughout the day. I recommend engaging when you notice that your Mommy or Daddy are no longer focusing on you. You must first distract them. If they are watching TV, get between them and the show. If they are working at the computer, lay down on the keyboard. My Mommy likes to read, so I paw her book to get her attention. Once they are focused on you again, purr loudly and offer your chin or ears to be scratched. Affection can be shown in many ways and is so important, I will discuss the proper way to show it at another time.
2nd Feeding Time This is non-negotiable! It must happen at precisely the right moment, which you as the resident feline will establish.
Exercise Time This is the time that we felines practice our skills to keep ourselves in tip top shape. I rush around the house and practice my leaps and mid-air twists. I work on stalking and pouncing as well. It does not have to take long.
Quiet Time This is my favorite time. Mommy puts on her pajamas and we cuddle on the couch or her bed. She will eventually get up and turn out all the lights and then we will snuggle and fall asleep.
So there's my suggestions for building your schedule for your Mommy or Daddy! Good luck, it may take some time to work it all out and teach your Mommy and Daddy what is required.
Keep scratching cats and kittens, until next time.
